Kia Ora, I’m Talya,
Welcome to the Easterly.
Based in New Brighton, Christchurch, the ocean and beach has always captivated me. In 2020 I began experimenting with epoxy resin as an art medium to emulate this inspiration.
For as long as I can remember I've been creating. As a child I'd paint alongside my Grandmother which eventually led to a visual arts degree and a career in graphic design.
If you're interested in my commercial work you can find me at Kāhu Creative.
The Process
My work is created by painting layers of acrylic paint, and then layers of epoxy resin. This is a lengthy process which takes days to achieve. The result, however is worth it. Both the paint, and resin produce different effects, and resin layers create an incredible 3D depth that can’t be achieved through painting alone.
FAQs
-
Even though epoxy resin has anti yellowing agents, it’s a good idea to display your piece out of direct, harsh sunlight, as it may yellow over time.
Pieces may also scratch easily, so please take care when transporting, or storing, and always dust/clean with a soft clean cloth.
-
Some of my larger pieces have over two litres of resin poured on them, and the board itself can be rather heavy - so hooks for hanging should always be screwed directly into a wall stud.

Yes! My art looks has so much depth and detail that just doesn’t transfer to photos. If you’re within driving distance, and want to view my work please get in touch so we can arrange a viewing. Pieces might be at my home studio, or on public display elsewhere.
